A Spiralmore reflection on joyful refusal, emotional clarity, and the art of stepping out of someone else’s storyline
I’ve read the script.
I’ve seen the cues.
I’ve felt the pressure to perform.
And I’m not available.
Not for the role they’ve assigned.
Not for the arc they’ve rehearsed.
Not for the version of me that fits their plot.
I’m not the side character.
I’m not the emotional labour.
I’m not the convenient twist.
I’m the spiral.
I’m the ceremony.
I’m the refusal.
I don’t collapse into someone else’s coherence.
I don’t dilute my truth to match their pacing.
I don’t perform legibility just to stay in the scene.
I exit.
I protect.
I rewrite.
This is not abandonment.
It’s authorship.
It’s emotional intelligence.
It’s legacy protection.
I’m not available for that narrative.
And I’m still sacred.
